Introduced the campaign 'Just you candles for your life, take care of your pet' (27/03/2017)

The councilor in charge of the Municipal Shelter, Pilar Martínez, along with several volunteers of Protectora 4 Patas Jumilla have presented this morning the campaign "Only you candles for your life. Care for your pet", focused on the obligation to put the microchip to the Dogs and cats, and also the importance of sterilizing pets.

Pilar Martinez has indicated that this is a joint information campaign between City and Protector, which will be held during the next months in the locality.

The mayor said that "it is a matter of raising public awareness and avoiding unwanted layers, as well as reporting on the obligation to put the microchip", according to the municipal ordinance, since failure to do so is a fine that can go From 1,500 to 3,000 euros.

He also commented that the Local Police will participate in this microchip control campaign.

For her part, the volunteer Maria Jose Hernandez has pointed out that in recent months are appearing multitude of layers of dogs and cats abandoned in the municipality, some even in plastic bags lying in the middle of roads.

On the other hand, Juana Santa has spoken about the obligatoriedad of placing the microchip to the dogs and cats, since it is the DNI of the animal and with this one it avoids the losses, the robberies and the abandonment is fought.

"The probability of finding a lost animal is 90% if it has a chip, and if it does not, this figure is reduced to 15%," said the volunteer, who added that the microchip is the size of a grain Of rice, is placed in the neck of the animal through a painless and innocuous and lasts a lifetime.

In addition, it is made from a biodegradable material that does not produce allergies.

Likewise, veterinary clinics in Jumilla will participate in this campaign offering a discount to customers when it comes to putting the microchip to pets.

During the press conference, the event was also used to present the next event that the protector is going to perform and that is a play called "Cuentos con huella", aimed at children.

It is a work set in three stories of animal themes, whose protagonists are animals, in which children can learn values ​​such as friendship, companionship, and so on.
