The next 20 and 21 March will be the first treatment of the year against red weevil in the palm trees of the parks and gardens of the urban area of Jumilla.
It will be done at night, with the start scheduled on each of the two nights at 9:00 p.m. to finish at about 6:00 p.m.
The objective is to prevent the pest from damaging the palm trees, as the female is able to put 300 to 400 eggs.
The damages produced by such a high population are so severe that they end the life of the palm tree, for the larvae remain always inside the palm tree, from which they are feeding, while adults are responsible for reproductive multiplication and colonization Of new specimens, since they have the capacity to maintain sustained flights of between four and five miles.
