The Councilor for the Environment, Juan Gil, and the manager of the Levante area of ​​Ecovidrio, Roberto Fuentes, presented this morning a campaign to raise environmental awareness of the importance of recycling glass containers.
A competition will be launched between the Primary classrooms of the schools of Jumilla.
The goal is to become the school that recycles more glass per student enrolled in Primary in the personalized container that has been located in the vicinity of each center and will be maintained during the two months of the campaign, which starts tomorrow March 1 .
The winner will be the one with the highest score in the ranking after dividing the number of kilos of recycled glass by the number of students enrolled in Primary in that school.
The award to the winning school consists of a check for 1,500 euros to be used for any need that directly affects the school, such as school supplies, sports equipment, etc.
Likewise, it is intended that the other citizens of Jumilla participate by voting to the schools through the website www.superrecicladores.com, which will enter the mini-container raffle.
To start the competition, Jumilla has been one of the cities chosen by Ecovidrio, a non-profit entity in charge of managing the recycling of all glass packaging waste in Spain.
The objectives of the campaign are to publicize the importance of recycling glass containers, to show the environmental benefits that this entails, to generate the habit of recycling glass containers and to teach the students what goes to the green container and what not.
It also seeks to further improve glass recycling data in Jumilla, which has already approached the regional average.
2016 has been closed with an average of 16 kilos of recycled glass per inhabitant, being the number in the Region of Murcia in 16.9 kilos.
