The organizing committee of the National Congress commemorating the 775th anniversary of the incorporation of the northern Muslim Kingdom of Murcia to the Crown of Castile and the visit of Prince Alfonso (future King Alfonso X the Wise) to these lands has gathered in Jumilla.
This committee is composed of representatives of the localities of Almansa and Caudete de Albacete;
Sax, Villena and Salinas de Alicante, as well as Jumilla and Yecla de Murcia, which are the municipalities that formed the northern part of the Muslim Kingdom of Murcia.
The Congress that is being prepared is intended to be organized in January 2019, which is the year of the anniversary of the actual takeover of these lands (hitherto ruled by Muhammad ibn Hud) by Prince Alfonso, for the crown of Castile which His father Fernando III.
The conquest of the Muslim kingdom of Murcia is done under the Treaty of Alcaraz, signed a year earlier in that city.
It was a treaty by which Murcia happens to be protectorate of Castile.
The meetings of this committee are itinerant, and are made by each of the municipalities that are going to participate in the congress.
This serves as a first contact with the populations, first-hand knowledge of the infrastructures of each one of them and presentation to the authorities to which they will be informed of all the details of the congress.
