The Councilor for Social Policy, Salvi Pérez, and the Councilor for Works and Urbanism, Francisco González, have informed this morning at a press conference of the completion of the second phase of the plan for the removal of architectural barriers corresponding to 2016.
54,500 euros have been invested which have meant the improvement of the accessibility in 27 old sidewalks by means of reduced forks in pedestrian crossings and corners.
They have been adapted for people with physical disabilities and with vision difficulties.
Of these actions, 17 have been carried out in the urban area and another 10 in the hamlet of La Estacada.
"This is a greater number of those originally planned for the improvements included by the company that has carried out the works, Riegos Ago," said Francisco González.
Likewise, the entrance to several public buildings, such as the Roque Baños Sociocultural Center, Barrio San Juan Medical Center and Fibromialgia Association, as well as the Adult Education Center have been made accessible.
They have also replaced the doors of the toilets of the Municipal Sports Pavilion.
According to a press conference, the proposals submitted by the Aspajunide and Amfiju associations have been taken into account, following different meetings in which they have participated.
"For the next financial year 2017 is intended to allocate at least the same amount as this year," said Salvi Pérez.
It will continue with the reduced forks in pedestrian crossings and corners of central streets of the municipality, "since they are the majority of shops, services and public centers.It is also necessary to carry out actions in the districts Cañada del Trigo and Torre del Rico" .
