The Teatro Vico hosted yesterday the gala of delivery of the Hypnos Awards 2016, the maximum institutional award granted by the City of Jumilla.
Recognitions were granted in seven categories, by a jury composed of Carmen Guardiola Vicente, Tania Pérez Terol, Bartolomé Medina Abellán, Carlos Guirao Rico and Francisca Ruiz Martínez, being presided over by the mayor, Juana Guardiola, and acting Andrés Martínez as secretary.
After a presentation video and the words of welcome from the mayor, proceeded to the delivery, which began with the prize for Labor Deportiva, which went to the Sports Association Coimbra.
It was his vice president, Pascual Castellanos, in charge of collecting the award, showing his satisfaction for "receiving a prize of such importance and prestige from such a modest club," after three decades in which have taken Jumilla chess in all corners from Spain.
The director of the Miguel Hernández School collected the Dedication to Culture Award for this school that celebrated its first half century of life this year, dedicating the recognition "to the faculty and promotions of students who have been part of the center during these 50 years".
The sales company, Jumsal SA, received the Business Development Award, which was collected by its president, Ramón Madrid, who highlighted in his words "the luck of working in a city whose neighbors have always distinguished us with their cordiality and affection" .
The marriage formed by John and Sue Walker was awarded the Jumilla Ambassadors Award.
They remembered why they chose Jumilla as residence to live their retirement, highlighting the jumillanos their kindness and dedicated the prize to their relatives and friends.
The Hypnos Prize for Equality was for Antonia García, currently president of the Association of Rural Women of Las Encebras, which referred to the progress achieved in recent years in the equality between men and women, recalling its beginnings and the Importance for both her family and the fact of belonging to the association.
Pascual López, currently president of the Association of Rehabilitated Alcoholics of Jumilla, was recognized as a Prize for the Defense of Human Values.
He dedicated the prize "to each and every one of the partners and professionals who, in one way or another, have been part of my experience", and especially his wife.
The most emotional moment was the Special Mention of the Hypnos Prizes, granted to Hilario Simón posthumously.
The brothers, Antonio José and Josefina Simón, won the prize, and their sister made a review of the award winner's life, recalling his virtues that made him known for his great social and cultural ties to Jumilla.
After a live performance by the singer Jacqueline Pottinger, the event was closed by the mayor of Jumilla, congratulating the winners: "You represent the dynamism and evolution of Jumilla, the human value of its people, its collective, development and Work of their companies, the effort to overcome, the affection towards our land.You demonstrate with your work and constant dedication that each one of you, without thinking about any prize, and even without knowing it or pretending it, contribute to make a better Jumilla " .
