The CARMESĂ Project (File Catalog of the Region of Murcia in the Information Society) for more than 10 years is dedicated to digitize and make available to all, through the web (http://carmesi.patrimonio.digital) documentary resources Historical records preserved in the archives of the Region of Murcia.
Last Tuesday, in the General Archive of the Region, the directors of Simplification of the Business and Digital Economy, Francisco Abril, and of Cultural Heritage, Maria Comas, as promoters of the project, delivered to all participating institutions and individuals Digital copies made in the last completed phase of the project.
During this phase the digitization of all the eighteenth century capitular acts was completed, and taking advantage of the commemoration of the 500th anniversary of the beginning of the reign of Charles I (1516-1556), all the municipal documents belonging to that period were digitized and To the one of sumadre, Dona Juana.
The archives of Alhama, Archena, Bullas, Calasparra, Caravaca, Cehegín, Cieza, Jumilla, Lorca, Mazarrón, Molina de Segura, Mula, Murcia, Totana and Yecla, and the General Archives of the Region Of Murcia and the Regional Library of Murcia.
A total of 125,962 pages have been digitized in this phase, together with those of previous phases, adding 1,051,307 images of historical documents from the 14th to the 20th centuries, digitized by the Crimson Project and which are, therefore, a testimony Of seven centuries of the rich past of the Region of Murcia.
With regard to the Municipal Archive of Jumilla, a total of 1,139 images have been digitized corresponding to the capitular acts of the sixteenth century.
The Crimson Project is an initiative of the Digital Heritage project which is managed and coordinated by the Integra Foundation and is funded by European FEDER funds and the Directorate General for Business Activity Simplification and Digital Economy of the Ministry of Economic Development and Tourism And Employment.
