For the second consecutive year, the local government refuses to lower taxes on Jumillanos and Jumillanas
Last Thursday, an extraordinary plenary session was held in which the tax ordinances were debated for 2017, a plenum to which the PP Municipal Group submitted 10 amendments with a double objective: first, to reduce the receipt of the contribution by 10% And second, to put in place measures of economic activation, intended to favor the installation of companies in the municipality.
Alicia Abellán, spokesman for the PP Municipal Group, defended the proposals of the Popular Group last Thursday, indicating that the City of Jumilla can and should implement measures to reduce the tax burden to all citizens, reducing the IBI.
"In this year have been entered almost a million euros more than the past, for this concept, and the reduction we propose only suppose 500,000 euros, which has been shown, that what we said last year could have been In progress without prejudice to the City Council, "said Abellán who added," in the present year, 2016, already more than 600,000 euros, more than what was budgeted, that is, that had approved our proposal , Nothing would have happened in the municipal coffers, because the reduction has been compensated with the new revenues resulting from the process of cadastral regularization.
"It is incomprehensible how the mayor, who continues to charge 4,000 euros a month, even knowing that the City is making more money than ever by the IBI, refuses to let that money, which goes to the banks, remain in the pockets of the Citizens of Jumilla, as we propose from the Popular Group, "said Abellán.
On the other hand, the initiative was approved by which large families will have an 80% reduction in the use of sports facilities such as swimming pools.
Regarding the proposals generating employment, it should be noted that they were rejected by PSOE and IU.
Proposals such as eliminating the activity rate, which barely amounts to about 40,000 euros of income to the City, and that would be an important incentive for people who decide to undertake in Jumilla, was rejected by PSOE-IU.
To subsidize the IBI to companies that settle in our municipal term or to subsidize tributes to stores, were also rejected by PSOE-IU.
To favor that the Central Market have more positions in the interior courtyard and in the salon, favoring these locations, to indirectly help the fixed posts, was also rejected by PSOE-IU.
From the PP Municipal Group, it is regrettable that, even when the City Council can afford it, the PSOE-IU government prefers that the Jumillanos continue to pay more taxes even if their money can not be reflected in the improvement of public services.
It is time for the local administration to implement a definite project, which the mayor of Jumilla lacks, so that Jumilla can get referenced in job creation, because the economic situation allows it, because the national situation requires it and because the Citizens deserve a serious, responsible and future political project.
