At the end of this week will visit Jumila, Juan Brito Martin, a whole cultural personality in Lanzarote, favorite son of the island and gold medal of the Canary Islands, among many other awards throughout its nearly 97 years of life.
His relationship with this city dates back to 1939, when after the Civil War was destined to Jumilla and was welcomed by a family of shepherds in the humblest part of town.
such fond memories of that time, who wanted to return 77 years later, now accompanied by five of her children.
The mayor of Jumilla, Juana Guardiola, will meet at City Hall on Friday 14 October.
That same day, from 20.30 in the multipurpose room of the Municipal Library, Juan Brito, will share his memories of the time when he lived in Jumilla, while talk about his island and courtesy of the Cabildo island of Lanzarote, there will be a tasting of typical products.
Their children will also be present, as well as the family that once welcomed him.
Juan Brito grew up as a shepherd and farmer, but over the years became all self-taught artisan folklorist and ethnographer in Lanzarote.
He further drew up an archaeological map of Lanzarote (46 sites), as folklorist: Titerroygatra founder in 1964 of the group a year later becomes Los Campesinos.
