The Association for Regional Development of the Northeast Region of Murcia held yesterday at the Cultural Center Roque Baños Jumilla the last of the forums planned citizen participation in the process of developing laEstrategia Participatory Local Development 2014-2020, for Leader deayudas application.
They were released to the public the most important results of territorial and sectoral diagnosis made to prioritize measures and objectives for funding through the Leader.
The mayor of Jumilla, Juana Guardiola, made the opening of the forum and in his statement to the media said: "This Leader period works with different rules in each country defines its own strategy and then must fit projects produced by groups and municipalities. I hope there will be changes in regards to funding and can be obtained through other funds because it is insufficient to meet the needs of the area. "
Maria Angeles Perez, director of Albant, a consulting firm that has made the diagnosis, said "the main challenges that the region faces are the great depopulation that exists in the area of ​​districts, poor enhancement of great natural heritage and cultural, as well as the limited development of the great potential of the tourism sector, which joins the lack of modernization of enterprises, which should make the leap to what is known as an industry 4.0 ".
They will present three strategic lines.
The first is to try to improve the quality of life, equality and access to infrastructure, especially in the districts.
Another line is to get the tourist development of the area linking the different products and heritage of the region and a third will be to support environmental businesses to get access to the new industrial revolution.
Meanwhile, the manager of the Association for Regional Development of the Northeast Region of Murcia, Francisco Santa, recalled that "after the various forums and meetings have managed to collect all the objectives that have allowed the preparation of the final strategy ".
The closing of the forum was conducted by Fernando Galan, Head of Rural Economy Diversification and the Directorate General of Rural Development and Forestry of the Region of Murcia.
