The immobilized animals were to be intended for human consumption

The Civil Guard in the region of Murcia, in the framework of the operation 'Scabies', developed in Jumilla, has carried out several inspections at farms that have resulted in the detention of 300 head of sheep and goats infected with the disease scabies, popularly known as scabies.
Civil Guards of Nature Protection Service (SEPRONA), in collaboration with the Animal Health Service of the District Agricultural Office (OCA) of the Altiplano, have developed since last February several inspections at livestock farms in the municipality of Jumilla in order to verify both everything concerning the status of the animals and the conditions in which they grow, as the documentation relating to this activity.
In two of the farms inspected, the joint team has found that 300 animals, including sheep and goats destined for the human consumption, with the disease of scabies, popularly known as scabies, which have been immobilized to prevent any kind of contagion.
40 administrative offenses detected
In addition, those responsible for the livestock facilities has denounced them for 40 offenses and irregularities, regulated by Law 8/2003 of Animal Health, most of them for lack of the required documentation and deficiencies or lack of veterinary care in animals corresponding sanctions that could be punished with fines of up to 60,000 euros.
The scabies
Scabies is a very fragile disease caused by a mite or mite, characterized by the appearance of skin pustules and intense itching, usually generate secondary skin infections as well as a considerable loss of weight and health .
This condition is extremely contagious and can infect both animals and people who have contact with carriers of the same.
