In compliance with the programming of campaigns and operations monitoring and control 2016 of the Directorate General of Traffic, tore in yesterday afternoon a new Special Campaign Safety Belt and Child Restraint Systems (CRS) which will be out by the Local Police Jumilla until Sunday.
The use of approved restraint systems, seat belt and SRI, has been demonstrated as the most simple, cost-effective and efficient in all kinds of roads and paths security system.
Although it has increased the use of seat belts, there are still serious gaps.
This is hardly understandable if one takes into account the relationship between ease of use and effectiveness, as it reduces by half the risk of death in case of accident.
In 2014 23% of deceased users of cars and vans on intercity roads were not using a seat belt and in urban areas this percentage rises to 30%.
With regard to the seriously injured on interurban roads not using seat belts 9% on urban roads and 17%.
One of the objectives of the Road Safety Strategy 2011-2020 is to ensure that no child loses his life because it was not properly seated into a suitable seat for their weight and height.
"The monitoring and enforcement with respect to the use of the belt and restraint systems has established itself as one of the most effective ways to maintain and increase the rate of seat belt use among vehicle occupants" note from the DGT.
Also they indicate that: "Recognizing that traffic in town is the first scenario where the driver starts the acquisition of habits and customs, and in this case, failure is significantly higher than in intercity roads, we consider of vital importance the participation of the local police in this campaign. "
