The Civil Guard detained a woman dedicated to large-scale distributed counterfeit products from Jumilla (25/02/2016)

The Civil Guard in the region of Murcia has developed the operation 'Mushka' research established to investigate the distribution of counterfeit goods via the Internet, which has led to the arrest of a woman in Jumilla who allegedly was engaged in illegal trade in lots of textile and mobile terminals imitating prestigious brands.

In the raid on the home of the detained, the Civil Guard have seized over 200 sportswear and a score of counterfeit mobile phones as well as 18,000 euros in cash and a luxury car.

Last summer, the Civil Guard detected a large number of publications in a popular Internet platform dedicated to buying and selling second-hand goods, in which various products of prestigious brands were offered pretending to be original when in actually, they seemed be counterfeits.

Given the suspicions that were a fraud, agents began the investigation to verify the alleged commission of crimes and, where appropriate, identify and arrest the person responsible.

The investigations carried out, focusing on tracking the so-called 'fingerprint' of publications allowed the policemen fully identify the responsible for the ads and find the place where you made.

The literature items were offered under review and naming of own brands at a price well below market, thereby suspecting that the goods were counterfeit.

The method used was initially importing counterfeit goods from China some products and their subsequent ads on web pages known, which was offering a varied assortment of products from prestigious brands, whose price dropped considerably, attracted to his clients.

When selling items are formalized they were sent to customers by courier companies throughout the country asking for payment on delivery, but also offered the possibility of hand-deliveries in the towns of Jumilla, Yecla and Blanca.

The result of monitoring devices developed, the Meritorious found that the identified property was the home of a woman located in Jumilla, which was refurbished as warehouse and sales point.

After obtaining all necessary evidence and prior judicial authorization, the Civil Guard has made entry and registration in the home, where they have been operated on different computers and other electronic devices used for the publication of notices, as well as abundant documentation relating to the investigation.

In addition more than 200 counterfeit items of prestigious brands of the textile sectors and technological clothing, sports shoes and mobile phones, 18,000 euros in cash hidden inside a pillow and a luxury car, worth more than all seized 50,000 euros.

The house search has culminated in the arrest and subsequent remand in custody of a Spanish woman 25 years and resident of Jumilla suspicion of offense against intellectual property.

The arrested, along with effects seized and the proceedings, it has been made available to the Court of Instruction No. 2 of Jumilla (Murcia).

Performing this type of activity is not only committing a crime against intellectual property, which is detrimental to the brand of products, but also an activity of a commercial nature without being subjected to any checkup, buyers these items would be buying products without recourse by the manufacturer and with materials made of a dubious quality.
