Francisco Olivares Jiménez, has been named as 'Farmer of the Year 2010' (14/06/2010)

Jumilla Castle hosted the ceremony last Friday the appointment of the Farmer of the Year 2010.

This first appointment was awarded to the person of Francisco Olivares Jiménez, a farmer of 88 years takes a lifetime dedicated to the care and pampering of the earth.

In this event, organized by the Federation of Peñas and the Institute for Wine Culture (ICV), also presented the Cultural Week 39 Harvest Festival and activities that make the holidays this year.

It was attended by about two hundred people, including Mayor Francisco Abellán, other council members of the corporation, and representatives of agricultural unions, several groups of Jumilla and numerous relatives and friends of the honoree.

Later, he was president of the Federation of Peñas Javier Blas Guirao who took the floor to congratulate the newly appointed Farmer of the Year, "because it was a debt we had with the farmers" and to invite everyone to attend the acts specified the federation.

For his part, Mayor of Jumilla Francisco Abellán was in charge of closing the event.

Abellán congratulated the organizers for this initiative and the right choice of Farmers of the Year "undoubtedly represents perfectly the effort and dedication of many farmers Jumillano."

Then all participants shared a wine of honor in the courtyard of the castle.
