Pictograms specially designed for people with ASD will be incorporated into the traffic lights The Local Government Board today approved the collaboration agreement between the Jumilla City Council and the Autism Federation of the Region of Murcia (FAUM) to promote cognitive accessibility in the municipality.
The aim is to make it easier for the population with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) to understand the community rules for the use of public and interurban roads, making it possible to know how to follow the sequence as a pedestrian when crossing the street following the indications of the traffic light, by using pictograms as visual support.
"Through the agreement, a collaboration framework is established to promote that the public spaces of the municipality are accessible to people with ASD or another disability.
It will last for two years, being able to agree to its extension", explained the councilor of Social Policy, Antonio López.
In the February 2020 plenary session, the incorporation of pictograms specially designed for people with ASD at the traffic lights near the educational centers of Jumilla was unanimously approved, at the proposal of the mixed group.
