The local government reports on the current situation of the Chicharra greenway (09/12/2020)

| The mayor and the Councilor for the Environment have referred to all the procedures followed to seek the viability of the route, detailing the difficulties of each section | The biggest problem is the existence of an irrigation pipeline that occupies about 80% of the route, which would have a solution if there were understanding, since both track and pipe are compatible The mayor of Jumilla, Juana Guardiola, and the councilor for the Environment and Agriculture, Juan Gil, reported today at a press conference on the current situation and the procedures followed to seek the viability of the Chicharra greenway layout to their I pass through the municipality of Jumilla. "It is the most complicated route of all the greenways in the Region of Murcia and for that reason it has been left for the end," said the mayor, who assured that the guidelines of the Greenways Consortium have been followed at all times and the Tourism Institute of the Region of Murcia.

"As I said at the time, we are not going to give up having a greenway in our municipality," he said. For his part, Juan Gil, has pointed out that: "This government team has had and has a high interest in recovering it and putting it in value, for tourist, environmental, economic, sporting and cultural reasons.

We have been working on it since 2015 , holding meetings with the Consortium, Tourism Institute, ADIF, with the residents of the area and with the mayors of Yecla and Cieza, to have a common project, at all times accompanied by technicians ".

It is in 2018 when the Consortium decides to start the execution of it, which has been the one who has been setting the times and the agenda. The total length of the greenway route is 32 km long and must be 5 to 6 meters wide. The Councilor for the Environment has explained the route divided into 13 sections, differentiating the different alternatives, which overcome all obstacles and which would be accepted by the Consortium for its execution.

The lands belong to ADIF, but some of them were occupied after the elimination of the railway in 1969, which is what is causing the adversities so that the greenway can be executed.

"The biggest problem is the existence of an irrigation pipeline that occupies about 80% of the total route of the greenway.

It would have an easy solution if we had that consensus, since the track and pipeline are compatible.

This agreement would make it easier for us to have the authorization in the rest of the incidents, since there are other small difficulties that have been solved with the collaboration of the neighbors, but the pipeline has not yet ",the councilor has explained. The route begins at the edge of the municipality of Yecla to the edge of the municipality of Cieza. SECTION J1: In this section of length 2,354 meters there is no problem, since it passes through land owned by ADIF and Demarcation of Roads and in which there is no invasion.

There are plots of private ownership for which we have authorization to use the affected land. SECTION J2: 967 meters.

There is no problem either, the route runs through land affected by the A-33 and is owned by highway demarcation and ADIF. SECTION J3: 1,707 meters.

The land belongs to ADIF, the Highways Demarcation and the Jumilla City Council, so there is no problem either. SECTION J4: 2,857 meters.

Property of ADIF.

The conflictive points are the invasion of the irrigation pipe, for the most part, and at the end of this section some chalet with asphalt pavement.

Some points of this section run in a trench, being another circumstance to solve the crossing of the boulevard. SECTION J5: 3,242 meters.

It runs along the slope of the road between plots and scattered houses.

Land owned by ADIF, the City Council and the Autonomous Community (sidewalk).

On the one hand, the occupation of the irrigation pipe continues and on the other, an invasion of the section, with a fruit plantation.

In both cases the owner of the plantation and the Irrigation Community do not give authorization and here there is no possible alternative for the route. SECTION J6: 2,525 meters whose land is owned by ADIF, the City Council and the Autonomous Community (Vereda Real).

This section runs along the slope of the road between plots, reaching the town center, along the shoulder of the Alicante public road.

The difficulties are invasion of the pipeline and fenced sections, which do not have access for the maintenance of the pipeline. SECTION J7: Section of 1,934 meters that runs through the town of Jumilla, so there is no problem. SECTION J8: Section of 3,145 meters owned by ADIF, City Council, Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and Environment, Demarcation of Roads and private property.

In the first part, an alternative was offered, which was to skirt the pine trees in front of the Botanical Garden and Road Education Park and return to the original route, something that has been accepted.

Another obstacle was the plots of La Cibeles and Casa Gallego, which there is authorization to border them, the layout being very similar, because it is not far from the original and has also been accepted.

Likewise, there is authorization to skirt the Rotunda.

There are some tricky spots like the bridge over the Rambla el Morrón. SECTION J9: 3,525 meters from ADIF, Town Hall and private property.

There are authorizations in some cases.

The conflictive points are the first, in which a house can be skirted and also has authorization.

Later and at other points there is no authorization from the owners who have the occupation.

Another problem is the encroachment with fences and buildings.

At this point alternatives have been offered, but they have not been accepted.

There are other owners who have authorized and accepted the proposed route. SECTION J10: 1,483 meters that runs through ADIF and City Hall land.

In this section there is no problem, since it runs along the original route. SECTION J11: 3,497 meters owned by ADIF, Urban Industrial land (Polígono Industrial Jumilla), Jumilla City Council and private plots of which the transfer of use is available.

There are several difficulties due to the lack of the consent of some owners, when the Vía Verde passes through this section.

For the rest there is an alternative, including crossing the polygon.

The occupation of chicken farms also has its solution by reaching an alternative agreement. SECTION J12: 2,534 meters owned by ADIF, City Council and private plots.

Here we do not have problems, since they are on the one hand public road and in the cases of private plots the authorization of the owners of the livestock exploitation is offered, who were offered the alternative of skirting. SECTION J13: 2,624 meters owned by ADIF, City Council and private plots.

In this section there is an invasion by plantations and they have been offered an alternative, the company not accepting any of the proposed alternatives.
