| With an investment of 440,000 euros, it will involve the modernization of one of the main entrance arteries to the city | The mayor of Jumilla, Juana Guardiola, and the Councilor for Works and Urbanism, Francisco González, presented this morning the project for the comprehensive remodeling of Avenida de la Asunción in the section between Libertad and Ermita de San Agustín, whose works have begun this week and "will involve the modernization of one of the main entrance arteries to the city," said the mayor. With an investment of 440,000 euros from the remnants of the City Council Treasury, the action will consist of redefining the road network and car parks, as well as equipping the avenue with a bike lane, connecting the avenue de la Libertad with the road to Santa Ana.
Likewise, new sidewalks and underground containers will be built and the water network, sanitation, as well as trees, lighting and urban furniture will be renewed, installing new benches and wastebaskets.
After the remodeling, the parking system will be in battery on the west sidewalk and in line for the east sidewalk.
The works were awarded to the Ayllonza company, among the 23 submitted to the bidding process.
The author of the project is Pedro Luis Díaz. During the execution of the same, whose expected duration is five months, the road traffic of the area will be reorganized, using a lane of the avenue itself to go south and the extension of Ronda Poniente avenue to move in the direction north.
Access and exit to the CEIP Príncipe Felipe must be done from the roundabout of the Hermitage of San Agustín, through the parking lot set up next to the school, as explained by the Councilor for Works and Urban Planning. Both playgrounds will be built by the company Marige Parques y Servicios.
