The mayor of Jumilla, Juana Guardiola, has assured that "the City Council will not renounce having a greenway in the municipality, which runs along the old Chicharra railway line.Although currently and for the moment it has not been possible, we will continue working to achieve it in the future.
On this matter he explained that "at the moment it has not been possible because the European financing term was 2014-2020, but we will try again.We have been working on this issue since 2004 and within this European period, since 2015, continuously and constantly together with the technicians, Consorcio de Vías Verdes, ADIF and managers of the Tourism Institute of the Region of Murcia (ITREM), maintaining numerous meetings, despite what the PP spokesperson says.
" To this day, the City Council does not have the land of the old train route."They are not municipal and in a good part they are occupied by a community of irrigators that does not authorize us.Without that authorization, it is not feasible to meet the deadlines that were set, as I said, for this period of European funding.
