Quarterly water bills are beginning to arrive with very considerable amounts that in the opinion of IU Verdes are not justified.
The reason that on some occasions very important amounts are billed is in the steps that the water rates of our municipality have.
While these rates make people try to save water, in situations like this year they are creating quite a few problems. The water tariff system means that when more than 35 cubic meters are spent in a quarter, the price begins to rise quite sharply.
During the months of the pandemic, it seems that it has not been possible to do the reading in all the homes since many Jumillanos have received invoices with estimated readings as indicated on the receipts. When after the pandemic, real readings have been made, the amounts have risen a lot due to the effect of the steps.
For citizens to understand, an example is better: two receipts in which 30 cubic meters have been spent on each receipt are cheaper than two receipts in which 10 cubic meters have been spent in one and 50 cubic meters in the other, Specifically, in the second case, 27 euros more are paid, when in both cases 60 cubic meters are spent between the two quarters. If adding two quarters, the consumption has been more than 100 cubic meters, the differences are much greater if there is a significant difference between the estimated and the actual reading. If there were no readings because they could not be done in the middle of the pandemic, the logical, fair and reasonable thing is that once the reading is regularized and there is a quarter in which that figure was estimated since it could not be read, that a distribution is made 50% of the total consumption between the two quarters and that the second bill is adjusted based on what was charged in the first. For the IU Verdes training, it is not possible in any case to harm the Jumillans due to a circumstance that is impossible to foresee and due to the changes that citizens have had to make in their lives by being at home all this time.
They also demand that an advantageous regularization be made by distributing consumption in the most convenient way for citizens.
