It is an educational activity aimed at students in the 2nd cycle of Primary Education (8 to 12 years) that brings road safety and accident prevention to students.
This year it will only travel to 14 cities in Spain, Jumilla being the only one in the Region of Murcia
The Road Safety Caravan of the Mapfre Foundation will visit Jumilla from March 16 to 20, settling next to the Indoor Municipal Pool.
This morning the activity was presented by the Mayor of Jumilla, Juana Guardiola, accompanied by the Councilors for Citizen Security and Education, Isabel López and Lola Gómez, as well as the Local Police agent, Pascual David Muñoz.
It is an educational activity aimed at students in the 2nd cycle of Primary Education (8 to 12 years) that brings road safety and accident prevention to students with the active participation of teachers as a key piece of youth training .
The caravan is equipped with a classroom where students receive a brief theoretical session on basic concepts of movement from different points of view (pedestrian, driver and traveler) and is taught by specialized monitors.
In an annexed area they receive training about the prevention of fires and other accidents (domestic, leisure, at school ...).
After the theoretical sessions, the participants carry out practices with electric karts in a tailor-made traffic circuit, where real situations arise with which they can find themselves in their closest environment.
Here, students learn to function in the urban environment respecting the rules of safety and road coexistence.
The Road Safety Caravan of the Mapfre Foundation is in demand in both Spain and Portugal.
This year it will only move to 14 cities in the country, Jumilla being the only one in the Region of Murcia, so it is presented "as a unique opportunity," they said in the presentation.
Being the March 19 holiday will be open day.
