The Municipal Archive of Jumilla has recovered eight historical documents of the Civil War thanks to the Clarisas Operation of the Civil Guard.
This operation started in 2018, culminated yesterday with the delivery of the recovered documents to their legitimate owners, among which are the Catholic Church, the Ministry of Defense, as well as different autonomous communities and municipalities throughout Spain, among which is Jumilla
José Luis González, director of the Municipal Archive, explained that "in the case of Jumilla, the documents recovered are eight offices dated during the Civil War addressed to the president of the Municipal Council of Jumilla or to the mayor, mostly sent by different military forces, with relevant information in many cases referred to neighbors of Jumilla ".
The mayor of Jumilla, Juana Guardiola, has shown her satisfaction for the news, "since it is documentation that belongs to the municipality and of great importance for its history. Once they receive the corresponding documentary treatment by the staff of the Municipal Archive will be made available to the citizens of Jumilla. "
In the whole of this operation, 90 manuscript books, files and historical documents dated between the 13th and 20th centuries have been recovered.
The Civil Guard initiated these investigations by detecting through different portals online sales of antiques, documents that could correspond to the historical heritage of the State, most of these documents being in perfect condition.
