The room was the main protagonist of this edition, including the service of wine and the work of sommeliers.

The Association of Sommeliers of the Region of Murcia organized during the congress the "III Best Nose Contest of the Region of Murcia", as well as the contest "Best Sommelier of the Region of Murcia".

In both tests, the wines of the Region were the main protagonists.

The Jumilla Protected Designation of Origin was present making known its history, its diversity and of course, its wines.

Two workshops were held with the eight winning wines of the gold medal of the 25th Quality Contest of the Wines of the PDO Jumilla, to publicize the general public and the professionals of the sector, the denomination of origin, as well as bring them closer to the wine culture of the area.

The workshop for the general public "Vinos de Oro DOP Jumilla", which was held on Friday 8, was a success, as was the workshop held last Monday 11 "DOP Jumilla in the best tasting of the day" , workshop aimed at professionals in the hospitality and catering sector.

In both workshops, the capacity was completed and all attendees were very interested in knowing the singularities that make our designation of origin unique.

The first wine that was tasted was the rosé of Bodegas Viña Elena, it is a wine loaded with fruity aromas and with a very compensated acidity, which makes it a very pleasant wine.

The rest of the wines were all red, including Luzon Monastrell Collection, from the 2018 vintage, a young wine that always surprises.

The following wine, from Bodegas 1890, Mayoral Reservado 2018, was one of the most different wines of this tasting since it is made from Cabernet Sauvignon and Monastrell.

The next main winery was Alceño, which has two wines awarded with a gold medal in our contest, Alceño Premium 50 Barricas 2018 and Alceño 12 months Monastrell 2016, in both cases made from Monastrell and Syrah, although with different proportions.

The next wine that was tasted was Divus de Bodegas Bleda of the 2015 vintage and 100% Monastrell.

Altico de Bodegas Carchelo 2015 was also tested, in this case a 100% Syrah, which demonstrates how well adapted this variety is to our area.

The last wine was the Monastrell sweet wine from Bodegas Silvano García of the 2016 vintage, one of the most special wines of the tasting for its elaboration from overripe grapes.

During the tastings, different possibilities of pairing with PDO Jumilla wines were also proposed.

Six wineries of PDO Jumilla were also present as exhibitors throughout the weekend: Bodegas Alceño, Bodegas Hijos de Juan Gil, Bodega Sierra Norte, Bodegas Viña Elena, Bodegas Luzón and Bodegas Madrid Romero.
