Jumilla will receive thousands of visitors tomorrow Saturday to enjoy the Great Wine Ride as a culmination of the Harvest Festival.
A score of rocks will parade next to their floats and throw during a journey of about three hours between 60,000 and 80,000 liters of wine, according to the Federation of Peñas.
The Cavalcade of Wine celebrates its 48th edition since it was first organized in 1972. At 6:00 p.m. the training will take place and will begin at 6:30 p.m., having as a route Reyes Catolicos avenue, Murcia avenue, Cánovas del Castillo street, Valencia, Reyes Catolicos and Juan XXIII to finish in Avenida de Levante.
Music, joy, fun and above all a lot of wine will flood everyone who approaches.
Boots, bottles, jugs, buckets and even water guns and hoses will again serve to launch the most precious product on earth.
The shower service will be located as in previous years in the courtyard of the Mercado de Abastos.
Security preventive
The event will have, as usual, with more than a hundred people in its security preventive, organized by the City of Jumilla, as reported by the Councilor for Celebrations and Public Safety, José Antonio Jiménez.
The Local Police will have 35 troops, which will be joined by the Canine Unit and the Murcia Security Unit.
There will be pre-event controls at the entrances and exits of the city made by the Traffic Unit in coordination with the Local Police.
The area of ​​the route will be cut off to traffic from 5 pm and Avenida de Levante from 4 pm.
The Cecopalse will coordinate from the Local Police through the chief officer, Antonio Luis Mula.
The Red Cross, after a contract with the Jumilla City Council, will have a coordination point at its Liberty Avenue facilities.
Five ambulances will be mobilized, one of them with advanced life support and another with rapid intervention.
There will also be reinforcement personnel in the emergency department of the Health Center.
For its part, Civil Protection will carry out cooperation and coordination functions with the security forces and bodies with 15 members of Jumilla and Yecla.
The Civil Guard will have service units at the Jumilla post, units, as well as the Lince de Murcia unit, totaling 20 people.
There will also be fire brigade units of the CEIS prepared for any incident.
To this we must join volunteers from the Federation of Peñas of the Harvest Festival distributed throughout the route of the Cavalcade.
In addition, the surroundings of the municipal swimming pools of La Hoya Sports Center will be guarded to prevent access with closed facilities.
