The councilors of Salubridad y Festejos, José Luis Monreal and José Antonio Jiménez, the president of the Peñas Federation of the Harvest Festival, Guillermo González, and the president of the DO Vinos de Jumilla, Silvano García presented tonight the third edition of the 'It is in our blood' campaign, launched again by the Harvest Festival and the Regional Hemodonation Center in search of further increasing the number of blood donations in the municipality.
The appointment is next Tuesday, August 6 at the Jumilla Health Center, from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
All donors will take as a souvenir a bottle of DO Jumilla wine.
In the two previous editions of this campaign, carried out in 2017 and 2018, authentic record figures were reached that assumed that the work team displaced to Jumilla extended their workday until 23.45 hours, so it is intended to increase the number of staff.
The rest of Tuesday of the month of August the units of the Hemodonation Center will also visit Jumilla, as usual.
Last year 2018 in the different visits to Jumilla were 1,994 Jumillanos who came to donate blood and 1,679 donations which were obtained.
To meet the needs of hospitals in the Region of Murcia, 250 units of blood are needed each day.
The World Health Organization recommends an index of 50 donations per 1,000 inhabitants, a figure that Jumilla almost triples.
The City of Jumilla dedicated this year a monument to blood and marrow donors, which was installed in the garden area of the Health Center as a thank you from the blood and marrow donors of Jumilla, since the municipality is an example of awareness through different campaigns that have broken donation records.
