This week the renovation of sidewalks and the parking area of the southern part of Avenida de Levante, on the section between Valencia and Joaquín Turina streets, began.
This is one of the actions of POS 2018-19, which include, among other improvements, the substitution of the existing trees with another composed of 42 mulberry trees, a hypoallergenic species.
They will be aligned without obstructing the sidewalk, which will be three meters wide and will be totally accessible, nor the new parking area, where the number of vehicles that can park will increase.
A good part of the trees currently existing in this section have been classified by the report of the Area of Gardens and Green Areas as decrepit, old or in poor condition, so its elimination is considered.
The rest will be transplanted, given their good or regular status.
The Councilor for Works and Urban Planning, Francisco González, said: "Meetings have been held with the residents of the area, as well as the Stipa Naturalist Association with the aim of having their opinions before carrying out the improvement works that entails the project".
The complete work will cost 136,950.58 euros, of which 117,800 will be provided by the CARM and 19,150.58 by the City of Jumilla.
