The study of conditions in the public domain of the Jumilla mountains that has been carried out through the Improvement Funds has been completed, given the need to have digitized, updated and accurate cartographic information regarding the ownership of the mountains of utility. public.
In particular, it is the information necessary for the defense of the property that encompasses the possessory state of the mountains, updated limits of them, location and state of the landmarks that define the perimeter of the mountains, situation of swaps and location and state of occupations.
As a result of this digitalization process, the adaptation of these masses to climate change will be incorporated into the municipality's forest management.
In this sense, the precise knowledge of the limits of the forests will facilitate their subsequent adaptive management to climate change.
"At the same time, the study serves as a support to the public administrations for the works, procedures and procedures necessary for the consolidation of the ownership of these forests, which includes various models for the processing of the main procedures that are carried out. in the City Council, which will streamline all these procedures, assuming a benefit for both administrations, as for the residents of Jumilla, "said the councilor of the area, Juan Gil.
Annually, 15% of the income obtained from forest exploitation or from the economic returns obtained from occupations or other activities carried out in the forest, is destined to the conservation and improvement thereof, according to the Forestry Law.
Half of this 15% of the income obtained is carried out by the City Council of Jumilla and the other half by the General Directorate of Natural Environment of CARM.
