This morning the act of recognition was celebrated for the thirteen Jumillans who were deported from the Nazi concentration camps, specifically to Mauthausen and Buchenwald.
With this, the motion approved unanimously in full in which this agreement was taken has been carried out.
A space has been dedicated to them in their memory at the Arsenal roundabout, in front of the Wine Museum.
The act was attended by the mayor of Jumilla, Juana Guardiola, councilors of the three municipal groups, as well as several of the relatives of the detainees.
It has been conducted by the historian, Víctor Peñalver, and has begun with the performance of the music teacher, Alba María Ugeda.
The roundabout has been made with different elements whose symbolism has been explained by the Councilor for Services, Francisco González: "The stones of the boulder represent the difficulties with which the detainees counted, the walls have also been represented through the wooden trunks, as well as blood spilled with red gravel The tripod of the central plate has been made with chains and the stones where the individual plates have been placed are taken from quarries, symbolizing the forced labor they had to perform ".
