The Ministry of Water, Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries has financed with 1,264,820.31 euros the installation of a photovoltaic plant with 1,700 plates and the improvement of the technological conditions of the irrigation area of ​​the Irrigators Community of Miraflores in Jumilla.
Thanks to this measure, 924 villagers save around 75,000 euros each year and improve their irrigation.
The Minister of Water, Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Miguel Angel Del Amor, visited the facility today and noted that "thanks to this project have already benefited 1,329 hectares." He also stressed that "from the regional government is still betting on the use of renewable energies to avoid the emission of greenhouse gases and increase the competitiveness of agriculture in the area ".
He also stressed that this plant generates 892 MWh / year which prevents the emission of 227 tons of CO2, "equivalent to the average consumption of 500 homes with an average of four people for a year."
Del Amor stated that "besides installing a photovoltaic solar plant in the irrigation zone, the investment has included the implementation of a control system for the equipment, improvements in hydraulic installations and energy efficiency".
