The president of the Region of Murcia, Fernando López, and the mayor of Jumilla, Juana Guardiola, have laid this morning the first stone of the works of the new Prince Felipe school, which will replace the current one, whose building will become an extension of the IES Infanta Elena.
The new school will have six classrooms for children and twelve for primary school, being able to accommodate more than 400 students.
It will have dining room, sports building, music room and two orchards.
The cost will be 3.2 million euros, which includes both its construction and its equipment.
"Today is a happy day for Jumilla because it consumes a long-term work that comes from several corporations," said Juana Guardiola.
The mayor thanked the previous mayors Francisco Abellán and Enrique Jiménez and the councilors of Education Encarna Bernal, Fuensanta Olivares, Ramiro Garcia, Alicia Abellán, Cande Fernández and the current Pilar Martínez, "for the work done so that the construction of this school be a reality. "
For his part, Fernando López, has pointed out that "today is one more step to get the educational community to have the tools to do their job and that the youngest ones have at their disposal the best education, thus responding to a need that came vindicating. "
The Minister of Education, Adela Martínez-Cachá, the Councilor for Education, Pilar Martínez, the general director of Centros, Remedios Lajara, councilors of the current and previous corporations, as well as community members were present at the event. of the Prince Felipe and Infanta Elena centers.
