The Spanish Association of Wine Cities (ACEVIN) delivered on November 16 in Madrid the awards of the IV Wine Tourism Awards "Wine Routes of Spain."
Among the winners of these important awards at the national level was Casa Rojo, a winery located in the Paraje de La Raja, south of the Jumilla Designation of Origin.
Casa Rojo won the special mention of "Best winery in Spain open to tourism".
The professional jury of these awards, made up of representatives of the administration and the wine and tourism sector distinguished Casa Rojo for the "creativity and freshness of its proposals based on the recovery of native varieties of the nine most important appellations of origin in Spain for be presented to the tourist in an attractive and innovative way ".
The jury also highlighted Casa Rojo's "ability to influence and transmit the values ​​and culture of wine through social networks."
The award ceremony was chaired by the Secretary of State for Tourism, Isabel María Oliver, who stressed that "the Routes of wine are a basic pillar to enhance the diversification of the Spanish tourism offer" as well as by the General Director of the Food Industry from the Ministry of Agriculture, José Miguel Herrera, who stressed that "we must put wine into value as part of culture and food and be proud that it is part of our Mediterranean diet".
On behalf of the City of Jumilla was present at the awards ceremony the councilor of Agriculture Juan Gil.
Enhancing wine tourism
Casa Rojo has achieved this recognition just one year after it opened its doors to wine tourism and after joining the Jumilla Wine Route.
The winery has also become the only nominated winery in the entire Region of Murcia.
Casa Rojo understands wine tourism in the same way that it understands the world of processing, from a different perspective and under the fundamental premise of quality.
In this way Red House makes every Saturday experiences with small groups of people visiting the vineyards of the Paraje de La Raja, (at the foot of the Sierra de la Pila), the path of the entrance of the grape to the deposit is made and its precise form of elaboration and it ends with a pairing of six of its wines with six Mediterranean dishes prepared at the moment.
His activity on Saturdays was also chosen as "Essential experience for this year 2018" by the Tourism Institute of the Region of Murcia.
