The Councilor for Public Health, Lucía Jiménez, and the president of the local board of Jumilla of the Spanish Association Against Cancer, Dami Herrero, together with Mercedes Cruz (vice secretary) and Josefina Martínez (secretary) presented this morning the Campaign for the Prevention of Breast Cancer 2018, which will be held from September 20 to October 8, in collaboration with the General Directorate of Public Health together with the City Council and the Spanish Association Against Cancer.
As on previous occasions, a mobile unit will be moved to Jumilla, which will be located next to the Health Center, specifically on Juan XXIII Street, from September 20 to 28 and October 1 to 8.
They have been cited by letter to all women between 50 and 69 years of age, who will undergo a mammogram, since this is the ideal age range for early detection, taking this test every two years.
The participation rate in Jumilla during the 2015-2016 biennium was 82.7%;
while the regional participation rate is 71.2%, according to data provided by the Ministry of Health, which makes the municipality a benchmark in disease prevention.
Likewise, it has been indicated that any woman who has not received the letter, is in that age range or thinks that she may be at risk, has the possibility of requesting an appointment through the Health Center.
