The Councilor for Educational Centers, Pilar Martínez, and the Councilor for Works and Urban Planning, Francisco González, visited the schools in the town to meet with the directors in order to supervise all the maintenance work carried out in schools this summer to get them ready for the 2018/2019 course that starts on Friday.
At the San Francisco School the teachers' room, the toilets, the assemblies of the classrooms, the bars and the exterior rails of the Infant Education building have been repainted, where eight new doors have also been installed.
Different doors of the main building of the center have been painted and varnished.
Two new fountains have been placed, a marquee in the main entrance and a step has been eliminated in the playground.
The Miguel Hernández School has painted the common areas of the ground floor of one of the buildings, as well as the classrooms, toilets and staircase area that gives access to the first floor.
Seven new doors have been installed, two blinds, and different arrangements have been made on the exterior fence and window fences.
In addition, it is planned to install a shadow in the courtyard, as approved in full.
For this, the City is waiting for the necessary reports to make this investment.
In the Mariano Suárez School, the staircase leading down to the basement, the multipurpose room, the teachers' lounge, two management offices, the stairwell and several toilets have been repainted.
The downspouts have also been replaced and cables from the main façade have been collected.
Carmen Conde School has repaired the exterior stairs, painted four classrooms, the library and the toilet on the ground floor, and it is also planned to replace 20 blinds.
In the Our Lady of the Assumption School, the common areas of the ground, first and second floors, as well as the stair area, have been painted.
The replacement of seven doors has been carried out and, in addition, the repair of the platform of the center's meeting room is planned.
In the Príncipe Felipe School the assemblies of the Infant classrooms have been repaired and several areas of the exterior base of the façade have been repaired.
Finally, the installation of the propane boiler of the Adult Education School has been fixed and tiles have been replaced in the corridor of the El Carche Children's School.
Likewise, in all the centers there have been small plumbing and electricity works, as well as carpentry.
All of them, together with the masonry works, have been carried out with municipal personnel of the Department of Works and Services.
In the Municipal School of Music, a comprehensive reform was carried out last year, which involved an investment of € 60,668.83, and the placement of the new floor is planned for the coming months.
The work of painting and replacement of blinds, have been carried out through several contracted companies, all based in Jumilla, with a total cost of 20,555 euros.
The Councilor of Educational Centers, Pilar Martinez, has highlighted that: "With these works, the City assumes the maintenance tasks that concern us, attending to the needs that the centers themselves move us year after year. of the Ministry of Education to attend to the various claims that schools have been claiming to this administration on investment issues, such as the implementation of the "Shadow Plan" which unfortunately Jumillano students have not been benefited.
For its part, the Councilor for Works and Services, Francisco González, said that "in this legislature maintenance is carried out almost daily to solve the problems that arise," adding that "the list of needs transmitted by educational centers in This third term of the legislature has nothing to do with the first year after the lack of maintenance during the four years of the previous government.
