The works of renovation of the Juan Ramón Jiménez street collector will begin next September, which will solve the problems of rainwater evacuation in the area, in which floods occasionally occur.
"This is intended to solve the severe problems caused by heavy rain due to the accumulation of water in the street, sidewalks and even entrances to homes and basements, due to the lack of capacity of the network in the stretch between the avenues of Reyes Católicos y Libertad ", explained the Councilor for Works and Urbanism, Francisco González.
Historically, the largest accumulations of water are produced in this section due to its unique characteristics, since it is the one with the lowest levels and it becomes the final receiver of the rainfall of a large urban sub-basin that begins in the Cerro del Castle.
A new reinforced concrete collector, with a diameter of 1,200 mm, will be built, as well as a new mixed box-type scupper with its corresponding connection to the new collector.
Likewise, the existing connection pipes will be extended between the drains of the southwest corner of the junction between Juan Ramón Jiménez and Reyes Católicos.
The action will be carried out by the company Ayllonza SL for an amount of 69,583.11 euros and the execution period will be approximately two and a half months.
