The Councilor for Agriculture and Forestry, Juan Gil, has reported on the different projects that will be carried out through the Forest Improvement Fund.
Annually, 15% of the income from forestry exploitation or from the yields obtained by occupations or other activities developed in the forest is intended for the conservation and improvement of them, according to the law of forests.
Half of the amount is executed by the City of Jumilla and the other half by the General Directorate of the Natural Environment.
"In Jumilla are going to carry out several projects worth almost 700,000 euros between direct and indirect investment dedicated exclusively to natural areas to achieve an increasingly attractive and attracting tourism," said the mayor of the area.
To carry it out have joined the amounts for 2016, which were not transferred by the Ministry, and 2017, as well as municipal resources.
Environmental monitoring and evaluation of the general plans of El Carche and Santa Ana funds will be carried out, different actions will be carried out to improve the forest masses in the Sierra de los Bujes, an integral improvement of the recreational area in Santa Ana, a study of the affections to the public domain of the mountains, as well as different silvicultural treatments.
Likewise, the landmarks of the municipal area will be restored, work will be carried out on the care of unique and centenary trees, and trees fallen by the snow will be eliminated with the consequent rehabilitation of the affected areas.
On the other hand, the City of Jumilla has requested aid for the preparation of rural roads through a new call for the Ministry of Water, Agriculture and Environment.
