The Deputy Minister has chaired the local board (11/09/2009)

He has also delivered the Protocol between the Ministry of Interior and Local Police, which includes joint action programs

The government delegate in Murcia Rafael González Tovar has chaired, with the mayor of Jumilla Francisco Abellán, Local Security Board.

At this meeting, which was attended by the Councillor for Citizen Security Primitivo Gonzalez, responsible for the security forces and local speakers have discussed different aspects of public safety in the municipality.

Tovar Gonzalez has announced that this month, the Ministry of Interior, will deliver the City's agreement to build the new headquarters of the Guardia Civil.

Francisco Abellán has expressed his satisfaction at this announcement "that will enable this project a reality is long-awaited and we have worked for a long time."

Jumilla mayor added that before this new building to have the Ministry of Interior will remodel this year the top job of the Civil Guard in Jumilla with an investment of 58,000 euros, for implementing reforms to improve these facilities.

As for the Civil Guard in Jumilla and its crew, González Tovar has very much appreciated the efforts of the Government of Spain to increase troop.

Today the headquarters has 47 agents, a 235 percent increase over 2004, which had 14 guards.

Moreover, the delegate reported that since last July 15, have joined 2 new Civil Guard station in the Jumilla practices that will develop public security tasks until June 2010.

The delegate of the Government has reiterated its confidence in the role of Local Security Board to improve coordination of the activities of the National Police and Civil Guard and the local police of the municipalities in our region.

During the local board, we have studied the current security situation of the municipality, as well as ways to further enhance the collaboration between the Guardia Civil and Local Police.

In this sense, the delegate said that the good work and the significant increase in the staffing of the Civil Guard is producing substantial improvements in the investigation of crimes in the county (more than 15 percent increase over the past year) as well as an increase in the arrests of nearly 30 percent.

Collaboration Agreement with the Ministry of Interior

González Tovar has given the mayor of Jumilla that the Agreement on security cooperation to strengthen collaboration between local police and the Forces of State Security.

This agreement involves the development of the Local Safety Plan, which includes joint action programs and planned, a protocol for assistance in automated information or installation of a shared technical operations.

The Government delegate pointed out that this type of agreement has been signed by some municipalities in the region and its extension to other "is a target because we will improve service delivery, optimize resources and progress in improving of public safety. "
