Jumilla had hosted a forum for the Prevention and violence against women in rural areas.

It was one of the activities included in the program of events to mark the International Women's Day organized by the Department of Women's City Hall.

This forum was led by the Association for the Integral Development of Women in Rural Water and Earth, in collaboration with COAG Jumilla and the City Council and attended by dozens of men and women.

The event began with the presentation of the labor Women Councilwoman Fuensanta Olivares, José María Soria participants, technical manager of Water and Earth, Ana Diaz, a psychologist working with the association and Ana Maria Albert, vice president of COAG Jumilla.

Olivares Fuensanta announced that he will ask the House to change the name of the Department of Women by Department of Equality.

The forum spoke about violence against women and their phases and the myths that surround it.

Also explained the characteristics of battered women, types of violence, abuse and abusers.

It was also talked about prevention of domestic violence and the resources available to women to combat, among other topics.

For his part, José María Soria presented the activities undertaken by the association for the prevention and treatment of violence to women in rural areas.

"Half of the cases of violence against women occur in rural areas, so it is intended that the information reaches the majority of women possible," said Maria Jose Soria.

For this group, the main objective is the fight for equal and that all women have access to information resources that are available.
