The Department of Culture celebrates the 200 anniversary of birth of Darwin with a lecture and an exhibition (10/02/2009)

As the world marks 200 years of birth of Charles Darwin, the Department of Culture and Tourism of the City of Jumilla, has decided to celebrate with a series of actions and activities that celebrate the father of the Theory of Evolution.

To this end, we have organized a conference and exhibition.

The conference is titled '200 Years of Darwin's birth and 150 years after the publication of The Origin of Species', since this year as 2009 marks 150 years since the first edition of the book "The Origin of Species The edition sold out within two hours of its release.

The talk will be given by the archaeologist Emiliano Hernández Carrión, director of the Municipal Archaeological Museum "Jerónimo Molina."

Take place in the classroom CajaMurcia Culture (Street Steps 2) on Thursday February 12 (the very day that Darwin was born), at 20 hours.

As for the exhibition entitled 'The Lord of the Apes' is on the Evolution of the Human Species, dedicated to the public, but with special attention to secondary education students.

The exhibition has been mounted by the Diputación Provincial de Albacete, who has had the courtesy to lend it to the Department of Culture of Jumilla, in order to celebrate the 200 anniversary of the birth of famous naturalist Darwin.

The Exhibition is located in the multipurpose room of the Archaeological Museum 'Jerónimo Molina "Jumilla (Ermita de San Jose in the Plaza de Arriba), and visiting hours are from 16 to 20 hours.
