The Mayor of Jumilla, accompanied by several council members of the government team, and the president of the Hydrographic Confederation of Segura (CHS), José Salvador Fuentes Zorita, recently inaugurated the work of Improvement and Repair of the Left Bank of the Jewish Rambla passing through the town.

It has enabled a promenade and a bike lane for the use and enjoyment of Jumillano.

The investment amounts to EUR 1,265,623.40, which amount must be added the amount of technical assistance for this project (75,570.79 euros).

Zorita and Abellán Both stressed the importance of this work, as well as significant investments are being made from the River Basin and the Central Government for the benefit of the municipality of Jumilla.

The work consisted in conditioning the left side of the avenue of the Jew as it passes through the town of Jumilla in an area of 768 meters, ranging from an existing clip in the promenade at the height of the principle of Ronda de Poniente to the iron bridge of the old road to Cieza Jumilla.

The CHS has different areas of the channel cleared by the demolition, removal and transport to landfill works (remains of masonry walls and concrete wall), fencing and mating opportunities in the area of action, plus transportation to dump products from cleaning and clearing the channel.

It has also built a pedestrian and bike lanes of 6.5 meters wide along 689 meters in the space between the breakwater to be built and the existing pavement, formed by a pedestrian walkway and bike path areas albero, providing the spaces of the corresponding elements of landscaping, playground equipment and basic furniture.

The company also has underground electric from overhead power lines that run parallel to the promenade.

In the space between the existing pavement ride and has placed an artificial gravel layer, on which has a layer of yellow sand, type Albero.

This space has been completed with the placement of landscaping elements (irrigation system and trees) as well as basic elements of street furniture (bins, benches and lighting) and playground.

The transition between this space and the walk was performed using wooden curb.

In accordance with the City of Jumilla, the project has included the elimination of existing roads that provide access to the promenade, so that both the breakwater as the pedestrian protection do not have any interruption in the whole room to improve the protection against possible avenues.

The consolidation of the left side of the Rambla del Jew is designed following the type downstream existing and newly built.

Grant Community Irrigation waters Miraflores

On the other hand, have proceeded to the granting of the use of treated water from the WWTP of Jumilla in the Community of Irrigators Miraflores in this town.

The annual volume of water granted is 1,500,000 cubic meters.

This award, which is term of 75 years, is part of the proceedings of the Water Programme, in which the reuse of treated wastewater and reclaimed, is a cornerstone in the fight against drought and to fully use available water resources.

Thus, the irrigators of Miraflores have a standby each year to irrigate their irrigable area (1,350 hectares) and will supplement the water drawn from wells in an aquifer that is in a state of overexploitation.

Therefore, the irrigable area will be the 1,110 m3/hectárea/año of wastewater, which already has a total of 4,415 m3/hectárea/año, in accordance with the provisions of the Plan of the Segura River Basin for the type area of cultivation and use is located.

The approved maximum flow is 140 liters per second.
