The board of the National Geological Heritage Commission meets in Jumilla (28/05/2008)

The Board of Directors of the Spanish Geological Heritage Commission meets next week in Jumilla.

This is an activity organized by the Department of Culture and this meeting will give experts quoted as the Complutense University of Madrid or of the Rioja.

Specifically Félix Pérez-Lorente attend the University of La Rioja, Lorenzo Vilas and Consuelo Arias of the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Gregorio Romero Heritage of the Autonomous Community of Murcia and Cayetano Herrera, director of the Ethnographic Museum, among others.

The meeting will be on Monday 2nd and Tuesday June 3 and the sessions will be held in the Ethnographic Museum of Natural Science.

Other activities will conduct rising to the hill of the Castle and a visit to Castillo.

Also visit the site of vertebrate footprints top Messinian, visit and explanation of the tracks and a general visit to the quarry with attention to karst records and history of silicification.

Finally a visit to the site of higher vertebrate footprints in the Sierra de las Cabras

The Board is made up of members of universities in Spain, and its purpose is to defend the Spanish Geological Heritage.

Juana Herrera Guardiola and Cayetano expressed their satisfaction for this annual meeting takes place in Jumilla, "it has national impact and at the same time we will be able to teach our museum and our fields of footprints of the Hoya de la Sima and Sierra de las Goats and Celia Mine.

According to Cayetano Herrera added, "These three sites are under consideration for declaration of 'natural attractions'."
