Presented activities against gender violence (16/11/2015)

The mayor of Jumilla, Juan Guardiola, and the Councillor for Social Policy and Equality, Salvi Pérez, presented this morning the activities against gender violence that have been organized from the city of Jumilla in collaboration with various associations to commemorate the day International celebrated on November 25.

The mayor stressed that "we still have much to advance the fight against gender violence, so it is important that throughout the year various awareness campaigns done."

For its part, the mayor Salvi Perez stressed the importance of raising public awareness in this regard: "The figures remain alarming, as they are up to 48 victims who took this year and three in only 24 hours."

The events will begin on Monday 23 with the placement of a violet tie on the balcony of the City of Jumilla, as well as in various municipal buildings and schools in the town.

Also it planned violet lighting of some of these buildings.

On Tuesday 24, the activities are moved to Canada del Trigo.

At 1700 hours a silent demonstration in the square of the district will be held, several short films will be screened at the clubhouse and proceed to a poetry reading.

All this will be organized by the Association of Rural Women Canada del Trigo.

On Wednesday 25 different awareness activities will be conducted in schools Primary and Secondary 9-14 hours.

10 to 12 hours in the activity CAI Arsenal for good deals with children of 1-3 years is celebrated.

At 1030 hours it is further provided a thematic program on Radio Jumilla.

In the afternoon, at 19.30, the ALMA Association held a ceremony at the Monolith against Gender Violence, on Liberty Avenue, in front of Civil Protection.

At 20.30 hours we will proceed to the reading of a manifesto and the representation of '016.

All this in the Vico Theatre and with free admission, which includes conference at the end of the play.

The activities will close on Thursday 26 with a talk at the Roque Baños Center from 20:00 with the title 'The prevention of domestic violence: an integrated approach', by Vicente Garrido, writer and professor at the University Valencia.
