The Museum of Ethnography and features a life-size paracamelichnum jumillensis (23/07/2015)

The Museum of Ethnography and Natural Sciences Jerónimo Molina has a full size replica of what was a jumillensis paracamelichnum, a kind of camel that inhabited the area about 6 million years ago (Late Miocene and Pliocene) and whose fossil footprints were found Jumilla Cayetano Herrero, in 1997, in the place known as Hoya de la Sima.

The development of sculpture has been made possible through the Leader projects and was recently when the process is concluded with the transportation and placement of the piece, which already dominates the Paleontology Room located on the ground floor of the building.

The design and manufacture of it has been in charge of the Zaragoza Paleoymás company, which among other services is shown as a specialist in reproductions of extinct animals.

Its height is 1.90 meters, as estimated was actually once studied fossils found at the time.

The tracks have a length of 20 cm.

The sculptor was José María Calero and he was recently commissioned to deliver the piece with Javier Rubio, on behalf of the company.

By the City of Jumilla, they received signals from the sculpture, the Councillor for Culture, Maria Pilar Martinez, Andres Martinez as coordinator of Culture and Cayetano Herrero, director of the museum.

From that moment, anyone interested can now admire what a new attraction for the museum in the Plaza of the Constitution.

The original sample of the traces, already exposed for some time in this room, he now joins this life-size recreation of the animal.
