The Public Library of Jumilla has been awarded in the sixteenth Campaign Encouraging Reading Maria Moliner the Ministry of Education, for their participation in this initiative aimed to promote reading.
The awards are given to the best initiatives to promote reading performed by municipal libraries with fewer than 50,000 inhabitants.
The selection process was carried out by analyzing a number of criteria such as clarity and interest for reading promotion project, good planning and feasibility, as well as originality and immersion in new technologies that hold the proposal.
The campaign is organized by the Ministry of Education, the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces and the Coca-Cola Foundation, and as a reward, the Public Library of Jumilla receive a bibliographical lot with over 180 titles.
Campaign Encouraging Reading Maria Moliner told throughout all editions over 11,000 projects submitted and more than 2,500 participating municipalities.
More than 50 percent of the 4,526 municipalities of less than 50,000 people have attended sometime this initiative.
More than three decades after the birth of this initiative, the Campaign Encouraging Reading Maria Moliner remains present throughout Spain, and continues to demonstrate that all steps are valid regardless of the number of people who have the proposed locations.
