The Department of Health in addition to awareness campaigns on the importance of protecting the skin from the sun (25/07/2014)

The World Health Organization (WHO) states that UV radiation, in particular solar, are carcinogenic to humans and cause various types of skin cancer, warn that overexposure to ultraviolet radiation, either by the sun or artificial, through cabins and sunburn in childhood increases the likelihood of developing cancer, causing irreversible damage that can be developed at a later stage in life, leading to skin cancer.

The Department of Health, has joined in this way, to the awareness campaigns carried out by the Ministry of Health in relation to the summer, to avoid as far as possible, an increased incidence of skin cancer through awareness about effective measures to prevent.

Thus, since the Department has recalled the importance of inculcating children about right habits of sun protection, and educate them about the risks of solar radiation, especially as they get older and have more autonomy.

The Councillor for Health, has invited for caution when sunbathing during the summer months, in order to avoid negative consequences of sun exposure.

"Working to prevent, avoid excessive exposure, use appropriate sunscreen and protective clothing are effective and simple measures that would prevent the development of a possible skin cancer, while still enjoying the summer sun" has pointed Almudena Martinez.
