The Department of Health V-Altiplano, composed of the municipalities of Yecla and Jumilla, launches the 'Set Program' prescription of exercise in three health centers in primary care, for which the Ministry of Health and Social Policy has signed an agreement with the councils of these towns.

The Minister of Health and Social Policy, María Ángeles Palacios, this morning presented the project at the Hospital Virgen del Castillo, along with the mayors of Jumilla and Yecla, Enrique Jimenez and Mark Ortuño, and various councilors from both municipalities, including the Councilman Health Jumilla, Almudena Martinez.

The 'Set Program' is aimed at patients aged between 35 and 65 sedentary subjects with cardiovascular risk factors.

Specifically, estimates of Health, Health in this area could benefit some 24,000 citizens.

In the health area V-Altiplano the 'Set Program' will be developed in two primary care centers in Yecla, with 38 health professionals, of which 21 are family doctors and 17 nurses, and the Health Center Jumilla with 26 professionals, of which 14 are family physicians and 12 nurses are.

The objective of this project is education, said Palacios, "loyalty and promote physical activity and reduce sedentary, as stated in the 2010-2015 Health Plan of the Region of Murcia, at rates under 45 percent" .

The Minister stressed the importance of practicing some form of physical activity to prevent or deal with certain chronic diseases such as coronary heart disease, stroke, diabetes, hypertension and colon cancer, among others.

'Set Program'

Today, with the addition of Yecla and Jumilla, the 'Set Program' is implemented in 47 health centers in primary care and 20 municipalities in total are more than 3,400 patients who are benefiting from it.

Also, the Minister of Health and Social Policy also recalled that a few months ago started 'Active Families Programme' for children between 9 and 12 in order to prevent obesity and childhood overweight.

Palacios concluded that "the priority now is to continue to make this initiative, bringing it closer to all points of the region and its benefits favoring the practice of physical activity routinely and according to the possibilities of our organization."
