The helpline for victims of domestic violence in the region caters to 1,663 battered women in 2013 (13/01/2014)

The Urgent Telephone Answering Service for Battered Women, through the 1-1-2 emergency number, received a total of 2,685 calls made by victims in 2013 for information on the resources available for your immediate attention and get psychological help, social and legal when they are at risk.

The telephone service experienced an increase of 22.15 percent over the number of calls made in the twelve months of the previous year, when a total of 2,198 calls from people who needed to be focused on issues related to violence were recorded genus.

Since the beginning of 2013, the Telephone Urgent Care attended 1,633 women from the 1,321 women who did so in 2012, representing a difference of 23.61 percent.

The presidential adviser, Manuel Campos, noted as positive because these figures "are an indication that people, victims of domestic violence, warn of their lack of protection, which is a first step out of the violence."

In Jumilla, women victims of violence, in addition to the call center phones are in attendance, 016, 112, 901 101 332, have a Point of Care Issues, PAE, which aims to provide coverage for psychological needs arising from situations of abuse to women of the village in the social and legal area.

Care and Protection

The victims were in contact with the service to receive immediate attention by physical attacks, which accounted for 49.29 percent of the cases, while psychological abuse was the second most calls described behavior of the victims, a 39.43 percent of the cases.

Consultation and expert advice care resources for women of domestic violence intended by the regional administration, was the third reason for the calls of victims to this telephone service (1.4 percent).

Thus, of the 2,685 calls, 63.88 percent requested the intervention of the specialist services of the Regional Network of Comprehensive Care for Women Victims of Domestic Violence in the Region of Murcia, compared to 18.05 percent of calls they needed advice.

By age, the majority of users in 2013 were between 30 and 45 years (37.98 percent), followed by young people aged between 18 and 29 years (30.23 percent), the lowest of 18 (15.5 percent), persons 46 to 64 years (12.4 percent) and women over 65 years (3.87 percent).

The 71.12 percent of the victims in the region had Spanish nationality, although gender violence also affected women from Morocco (8.45 percent), Ecuador (4.92 percent) and Bolivia (4, 22 percent), among others.
