Lorenzo and Consuelo Arias Vilas Minondo Ordas SOCIVM receive the distinction of the Municipal Museum of Ethnography and Natural Science Friday, as recognized by the Department of Culture, its research and dissemination of geological heritage of Jumilla.
These two professors from the Faculty of Geological Sciences at the Complutense University of Madrid, which for more than 25 years have done work in Jumilla, in collaboration with the Museum of Natural Science, taking as reference the site of the Hoya de la Sima and their environment, making several scientific studies of the geological formation of the area.
Both belong to the Department of Stratigraphy and the Higher Council for Scientific Research (CSIC) within the Institute of Economic Geology, and were already worthy of a prize Hypnos, which Socivm Friday the award of the Science Museum of Nature will be added.
The Department of Culture wishes to acknowledge his contribution with this gesture, as are many conferences and master of geology that have been the site of the Hoya de la Sima, as a benchmark thanks to these two researchers.
The event took place on Friday 20, at 20.00 pm in the Municipal Museum of Ethnography and Natural Sciences Jerónimo Molina, and will be attended by Mayor of Jumilla, Enrique Jimenez, the Councillor for Culture, María Dolores Fernández, the honorees, along with family, friends and neighbors.
Thanks to the work of Lorenzo Vilas and Consuelo Arias Spanish and foreign scientists and professors have visited various geological deposits of Jumilla, contributing to raising awareness and study the geological setting of the area provided with special interest in the Hoya de la Sima.
