Acts of Intercultural week continues today with the talk "A little history of Jumilla" by Angel Francisco Cutillas (25/09/2013)

Throughout the week the Department of Social Policy, is developing in the municipality various activities related to the Intercultural Week celebration with which to promote the exchange of knowledge and traditions among immigrants and local.

Intercultural Week began on Monday with an exhibition of works by the children participating in the summer playgrounds and in the premises of the Santiago neighborhood.

More than twenty studies have collected the perception of the smallest on the concept of integration and how diversity adds and subtracts any circumstances.

After the opening of the exhibition, the agent of the City of Jumilla Equality, Paquita Ruiz, offered a lecture entitled "Gender, Culture and Immigration", in which he made a wide sweep about the differences between the concepts of gender and sex, and social construction, sometimes wrong, which makes this perception.

As explained Paquita Ruiz, gender divisions is both in the public and private, on men and women exercising social pressure if the person tries to untie the attributes commonly associated with their gender.

Thus the family, school, peer groups, the media or the language itself, are generating a separation of roles that ultimately end up pigeonhole people according to their gender without regard to their individual qualities.

In conclusion, Paquita Ruiz said to be bold and opt for new models for both men and women, because he explained "there is no justice without equality, equality is good for everyone, and does not have to be a confrontation, but it is a matter social justice ".

The next act of the week is scheduled to take place this afternoon at the Roque Baños Sociocultural Centre at 20.00 pm with the talk "A little history of Jumilla" by Frankish Cutillas Angel, a member of the Association of Friends of Jumilla.

For the day on Thursday is scheduled screening of several short films on issues such as immigration, health and culture among others.

On Saturday the 28th, will be the turn of intercultural sport with a day of living around football, which will involve teams of players of different nationalities.

The tournament will be held in the Pavilion of Miguel Hernandez from 18.00 to 20.30.

The intercultural meeting shall be the act to close the week of activities will take place on Sunday 28, Paseo Poeta Lorenzo Guardiola.

There, nearly two dozen local and immigrant associations are from 10.00 offering typical foods, and ethnic performances in music, theater or dance among others.
