The Municipal School Board meets to mark the start of the school year (16/09/2013)

Last week we started a new school year in Jumilla, and with the aim of pooling all matters concerning the teaching period, the Municipal School Board, met to take knowledge of current educational Jumilla.

The mayor of Jumilla, Enrique Jimenez, who chaired the Council was also attended by the Councillor for Education, Ramiro Garcia, representatives of local groups and members of the educational community.

DATA SCHOOLING

As reported by the Councillor for Education, Jumilla will this academic year with 890 students in the second cycle of 1,755 kindergarten and primary education in the six public schools and the two existing subsidized.

In public secondary schools will be enrolled a total of 890 students of ESO, Bachillerato 528 and 115 in vocational training courses.

NEW PROGRAMS

Education Councilman also forwarded to the School Board of priority actions in the field of education, which will drive this school year, and will be aimed at improving the skills of students in languages, new technology and entrepreneurship.

According to Cherry Garcia said, "the result of which is the implementation in programs Jumilla centers linked to bilingual education, curriculum enrichment programs, digital skills or incorporating the figure of Professor of Community Services and as the strengthening of educational programs such as the Research School ".

OFFICIAL LANGUAGE SCHOOL

On language, Jumilla will also have three sets of official language lessons, one more than last year, which will be given complete basic levels and intermediate group.

INVESTMENTS AND WORK CENTERS

On the other hand, informed the Board of Education works carried out this summer in schools by the Ministry of Education, Universities and Employment, on the reform of low voltage electrical installation CEIP "Carmen Conde" and those in CEIP cover "Mariano Suárez" and the actions carried out by the Department of Services in schools.

Also agreed to propose as non-school days for the course 2013/2014 on 23, 24 and April 25, 2014, to which should be added the dates that supply local festivals that fall in holiday periods.

The proposal includes as non-school days on October 11, 2013 and April 22, 2014, instead of December 26, 2013 and April 21, 2014 respectively.

However, this proposal must be ratified by the General Directorate of Schools.

Other issues addressed by the Municipal School Board members were related to transport and school meals, maintenance and preservation of public schools, financial aid to support spending on school materials, possible zoning change model for student admissions and contributions of the various councils of the City on issues related to schools and education.
