The Illustrious Doctor and Favorite Son of Jumilla, Miguel Padilla visit the town on Monday (12/09/2013)

On the occasion of signing demanial the transfer of management of the Day Centre Parent Association Jumillano Impaired Children, Aspajunide, the illustrious doctor and professor Don Miguel Marín Padilla, visit Jumilla on Monday, September 16, to assist for signature and find the plaque that reads your name.

The event also is scheduled to attend the Minister of Health and Social Policy, Maria Angeles Palacios, who will be accompanied in turn by the Director General of the Social Action Murciano, Fernando Mateo, and the Director General of Seniors, Enrique Perez .

The visit of Miguel Marín Padilla is also a special sense, to be dedicated center use for people with Alzheimer's and other dementias, since much of his research has focused on the field of neuroscience, particularly in developing nervous system, leading him to get the recognition of much of the international scientific community.

His investigations led to discover the neural origin of the layers of the brain, and it was he who settled the idea, now accepted by the scientific community, that from the moment they are born neurons brain function exists.

And thanks to his work found new techniques in the treatment of epilepsy and even brain tumors, ahead of his time and following the steps of Ramon y Cajal.

He has published more than 12 books, generated about 3,500 scientific publications, lectured at some of the most prestigious U.S. universities such as Dartmouth University in Virginia and lectured worldwide.

Much of his career was developed in the Department of Neuroscience, Mayo Clinic Rochester, which is now a professor emeritus.

Opted in 2001 Prince of Asturias Award for Technical and Scientific Research for his research on the human brain, and its distinctions include the Gold Medal of Medicine, University of Granada, Cajal Club Medal Cajal Jacob Philadelphia or Prize Javits granted by the U.S. Congress, the best neuroscience researcher at the United States.

Marin Padilla was named Favorite Son of Jumilla in 2000, and is also in Jumilla, CRDOP Honorary President of Jumilla and the Association of Relatives of Alzheimer Patients.
