Alicia Abellán, Councillor wanted to publicly denounce Equality on behalf of itself and the Team, the latest killings of women by their partner or ex-partner, already 22 women killed so far this year, of which 17 did not had filed a complaint.

Therefore wanted to condemn these killings and all forms of violence against women, encouraging these people who suffer violence to formulate the complaint relevant to activate available resources prevent more cases.

The last cases of murder have occurred in very young women, aged between 19 and 26 years, facts that show that the situation has not changed and that there is much work to do in terms of prevention of gender violence, noting influence the importance of preventive education of these young people.

As stated Abellán, from the Department of Equal Opportunities has been working on gender violence prevention at any age, with older people, and through workshops in colleges but, despite this, they will schedule setting initiatives performances among the younger population of the town, seeking the commitment of the media and working collaboratively together against this scourge.

The Equal Opportunities mayor said this week begin interviews with the heads of the various local communication means, and that together, they work to prevent these cases of violence, making every effort to prevent such actions.
